Abstract

This Paper explains the three different types of kernel architectures that are used in different mobile operating systems namely - Monolithic kernel, MicroKernel and the hybrid kernel. The kernel is the core of any operating system, this document explains and differentiate the use of different kernels in different operating systems like Android, Windows mobile Operating system, Fuchsia, Ios etc. This analysis provides a clear understanding of kernels and its selections with respect to mobile devices. This end result shows that there is not a very significant difference in performance and optimizations in the operating system because of different kernel type selection.
